Crime Stoppers:
The Rusk County Crime Stoppers has a single, simple goal:
Provide a cash reward (up to $1000) to an anonymous tipster for information that results in a felony arrest and prosecution.
To accomplish our goal, we have begun a process to strengthen our ties and establish new connections to our community through outreach, events, and fundraisers. Below are a list of common questions and answers relating to Crime Stoppers and tip reporting.
"How do I report a tip?":
Currently our primary tip reporting method is through our tip line. The number is 903-655-TIPS (8477). This number leads to our call center where you provide your tip and are assigned a tip number. Your tip is forwarded on to the appropriate law enforcement agency so it can be acted upon immediately. You remain anonymous, only your tip and tip number are forwarded.
"What happens if the tip is successful?"
For the tip to be successful, it must be accurate and result in the arrest and prosecution of the suspect/subject of the tip. Upon a successful arrest and prosecution, the tipster is notified anonymously and receives info on how to collect payout.
"What is the maximum payout?"
Currently, the maximum payout on a felony tip/arrest is $1,000. The payout is based on a scale of the severity of the crime according to Texas Law.
